I received complimentary tickets, however all opinions are my own.
Last night we had the opportunity to see the Harlem Globetrotter’s at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The silly antics and impressive basketball skills made for a pleasant evening of family fun. My two older sons attended a show a few years ago, but it was my youngest son’s first time. At six years old he is old enough to be amazed by the basketball skills displayed, but young enough to be confused and somewhat appalled by the showmanship. I truly think he thought he was attending a serious basketball game. The shocked and dazzled looks on his face through out the evening were priceless.
Unlike regular basketball games, a Harlem Globetrotters show is meant to be funny and entertaining for children. Player Handles was the star of the show full of corny jokes and general silliness. My eleven year old son, who recently completed his season of basketball, was dazzled by all of the slam dunks of the other players.
Currently the Globetrotters are celebrating their 90th Anniversary and have an extensive tour circling the country. Check out the schedule to see if they are coming to a city near you and make sure to use the exclusive promo code FAMFUNto save 25% on your tickets.
One part that I especially liked about the show was the high level of interaction with children. Handles held one child in the front row much to his amazement and later in the performance the Globetrotters brought a number of children on to the floor for some YMCA fun.
Also worthwhile to note is that the Harlem Globetrotters are also putting all their fame and attention to good service. They’ve partnered with World Vision to help children across the world. Check out all the details here.
